An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death, a standard procedure for detainees who die while in custody of the Multi-National Force. The detainee was admitted to the hospital on Oct. 5 after complaining of chest pains and had remained in the hospital since that date. At 1:40 a.m. Oct. 12, the detainee called for assistance. Doctors in the Intensive Care Unit attempted to assist him in breathing; however, a cardiac monitor showed no pulse. CPR and further attempts to resuscitate the detainee failed. An attending physician pronounced him dead at 2:11 a.m. Oct 12.
